Our Big News!

{Rewind to January 2013}. When Abbigail was four months old, I had this thought/feeling that it was time to have another baby. Crazy, right?!? We had just had a baby four months prior, I already had a baby that was still waking up a couple times a night, barely rolling over, not talking, not eating solid food, heck she was still wearing newborn/0-3 clothing. What was I thinking?! But I couldn't shake this feeling.

I brought my predicament up to Drew. I'm sure he thought I was nuts, but he was so calm and loving! We decided to both pray individually and as a couple to see what God had to say about this. It didn't take long for us to both receive our answer that we were indeed supposed to have another baby. Fearfully and excitedly we stopped taking birth control.

{Eleven Months Passed.}

I understand there are some women, even some close friends that struggle with infertility for years! I'm not pretending I know what they are going through. I can't even imagine. One year may not seem like a long time, but I can tell you it was the hardest year of my life! I couldn't understand why God would tell us to have another baby, and then not allow us to conceive. What was going on?!

This experience, as hard as it was, definitely humbled me. It taught me to have patience and to rely on God. It taught me that faith in God includes faith in His timing. It taught me how to pray more personally to God and really tell him what I was feeling and how much I was struggling. I think I can speak for both Drew and I when I say our relationship with our Father in Heaven grew so much stronger during this time.

***************************

Drew was offered the Job and we moved to Kimberly. My parents came to help us move in. My Mom asked me If I was pregnant and I told her I wasn't sure, but I didn't think so. She told me she had a feeling that I might be. Mothers Intuition?! I took a pregnancy test that weekend and it was positive. I couldn't do anything but cry. I was/ am so grateful to God for this chance to bring another sweet baby into this world.

Currently, I am 10 weeks pregnant. We are due on September 16th, 2014. We couldn't be more excited! I am feeling the effects of "morning sickness" pretty much every day, but it is so worth it. Abbigail is already so nurturing with her baby dolls and stuffed animals. She loves babies and I know she will be a great big sister!

Abbigail Anne -- A Birth Story

Abbigail Anne Wright
Born: August 21st 2012
Time: 9:54 AM
Weight: 6lbs 8oz
Length: 19 inches

Our sweet Abbi definitely came when we weren't expecting her to. I wasn't going to write out a full on birth story, but I thought I would give everyone a few more details on how our little girl entered the world {and also so I can remember}.

Abbigail was due to come on September 6th. Drew and I had been living in Inkom for the summer and were given the okay to move into our Rexburg apartment on August 25th. We knew we were cutting it kind of close but also didn't think she would actually be born before we moved into our new apartment. My whole pregnancy the doctors told me I was measuring 1-2 weeks ahead. We were really hoping for an August baby, but when I went to my appointment on August 14th, they did an ultrasound and told me that I was actually measuring right on track. This made me quite disappointed. I was SO hoping for our little girl to come early.

Ok now, fast forward not even a week. August 19th Drew and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary.

It was a pretty low key celebration. We went to church, came home, relaxed, made pizza for dinner and just spent time together. It really couldn't have been more perfect.

That night I couldn't fall asleep. It took me 2 hours until I actually fell asleep then I was waking up every hour or every half hour with back pain, or stomach cramps or to go to the bathroom. I didn't think much of it except I was kinda irritated. I just wanted to sleep! In the morning Starting at 6:30 I started having stomach cramps. I didn't have much Braxton Hicks (false labor) during my pregnancy, so I had no idea what to expect when it came to contractions and labor. My stomach cramps really weren't unbearable, but they came every 3-5 minutes and lasted about 20 seconds. I sent Drew to work like he was scheduled to and told him if they were still consistent when the doctors office opened I would call them and keep him updated. 8:30 rolled around and they were still consistent and getting a little more painful. It felt like I was have menstrual cramps. I called the doctor and they told me to come in to the office and they would check me. I called Drew and we headed in.

I was dilated to a 3 and 70% effaced and yes I was in labor. They monitored me for a good half hour and saw that I was having contractions, but they weren't getting more intense and I wasn't dilating. So the doctor told me to go walk and come back in a couple hours. Drew and I did just that. We walked and walked and walked. When we went back to the doctors office I hadn't progressed at all. But I knew the contractions were getting a lot worse, I just wasn't dilating. He told me to do the same thing, walk for a couple more hours and come back. I did and nothing! So he prescribed some medicine to help me sleep and sent me home. My contractions were getting really intense and painful, but I didn't want to go into the hospital  and have them tell me the same thing I had been told all day so I put it off as long as I could. Finally at 9:30 pm, we headed into Madison Memorial Hospital. They checked me in and told me I was at a 3 and like 90% effaced. I wanted to cry! {actually I think I did}. Why wasn't I progressing?? She called my doctor and he said the same thing he had been saying all day... Walk. So Drew and I walked the hospital for the next 2 hours with them checking the baby's heart rate every 30 minutes. When they checked me again I still hadn't progressed. Something wasn't right. The doctor had them check me in and give me pain meds through an IV.

The pain medication helped me relax but I could still feel every contraction. A few hours later, My contractions were really bad, I couldn't move when they came. The nurse said I was kind of a unique case because most of the time when in labor, women will have contractions 3-5 minutes apart and they last about a minute. My contractions came every 6-8 minutes, but they lasted 2-3 minutes each contraction. She checked me and I was finally at a 5 after 18 hours of labor. They gave me the epidural and I fell asleep. The doctor came in at about 7:30 and checked me, I was only at a 6 but fully effaced. They did an ultra sound and found the poor Abbi's head was head down (like it should be) but it was turned in a funky way and she was stuck. With each contraction, she was just getting more stuck. This was why I wasn't dilating. He said he would give her and hour or two to turn herself, but he put the idea of a C-section in our minds.

An hour and a half later, he came in and checked and she still hadn't turned, so they started to prep me for a C-section. After this point it all happened so quickly. By 9:30 I was in the operating room and at 9:54 Abbigail was born.

Abbigail is the most perfect baby we have ever met! Even the way she spits up or passes gas is cute! We have had two nights alone {just the 3 of us} and she is great! She sleeps pretty much all night with the exception of a feeding or two. And she doesn't really throw fits, she cries when she is cold or hungry but usually they are quick fixes and she stops crying. We couldn't be more in love!

35 weeks + a bee sting :(

Today I am 35 weeks pregnant! Woo! To celebrate I got pampered and went to get a pedicure and manicure! {Drew is too good to me.} Last week at my doctor's appointment I was measuring 2 weeks ahead of schedule. So we are pretty hopeful that THIS MONTH is BABY MONTH! I am feeling more and more pregnant everyday and I am getting really excited for our sweet baby girl to be here!

Also, on sad note, Drew got stung by a bee today. How is that fair? I get pampered and Drew gets a bee sting. Oh and he is allergic. This happened all of 10 minutes ago and being the sympathetic and supportive wife I am, I made him hold still so I could get a picture. :) He said his wrist might swell up quite a bit... if so I will definitely keep you updated!

Mt. Timpanogos Run.

This weekend Drew and I went down to Utah to watch Drew's dad and brother run a half marathon down American Fork Canyon. We went down on Friday and came back on Saturday so it was a pretty quick trip.{Sorry to all you Utahans we weren't able to see.} It was so great to be able to spend time with Justin, Heather and Ryker. They are so great! We always love spending time with family. Also, that was our last trip down to Utah (or anywhere) until Baby Girl gets here! Woo! So from here on out, it is relaxing at home and packing up boxes for our move back up to Rexburg. We are so excited to move back. It has been a nice break away, but we are ready to be back in the Burg. :) For now, here are some pictures of our fun weekend!

So handsome!

Crib Continued.

Woot Woot! Our Crib is finally set up! I love it! The only thing missing from it now is a crib mattress and the bedding! I have the bedding, but I am still looking for a crib mattress. We are hoping to get it soon! Drew is such a good sport for spending all that time on setting the crib up. {It's not as easy as it looks}. Also, we are moving in 4 weeks and the crib that he just finished assembling will be coming down in the next couple weeks anyways. I was just dying to see what it looked like set up, so major brownie points to Drew for accommodating. :)

Also, today I am 34 weeks pregnant! WOO! {no picture today}. I only have 6 more weeks until my due date. (FYI, that is ONLY 42 DAYS!) We are praying REALLY hard for baby girl to come early. Not too early because we want her to be healthy and strong but early none the less. I don't know how all of you other moms felt at 34 weeks, but I am so over being pregnant. I hate all of the side effects that come with it. With every headache, backache, leg cramp, etc, it makes me more and more anxious to meet our little girl! Also, I am now trying to decide what we need to pack in our hospital bag. I may just be thinking too much about it, but I am kind of at a loss. What did you other moms find most helpful? Any advice would be fantastic!

Baby Bump: 32 weeks + 3 days.

As much as I complain about how my due date isn't soon enough, I really can't believe how fast these last few weeks have gone. I am now due in LESS than 2 months and if she comes a week early she could be born NEXT month. That is crazy for me to think about. We are slowly and surely getting everything ready for baby girl's arrival. It is a little bit difficult considering we aren't moving back up to Rexburg until the end of next month, but we are doing our best. My mom bought our crib for us and it should be here this week! I can't wait to set it up and see how it looks with our bedding. Baby girl's closet is packed already and I haven't even put all of her clothes in there yet. Also, I am pretty sure she has cuter shoes than I do.
Case and Point.
We do have a name picked out for her. However, that name is going to be kept off the internet until she makes her grand entrance into this fine world. {P.S. it is so hard keeping it a secret!} Drew and I are so excited for our sweet baby girl to join our family!

I love this face.

Being an Aunt is so fun! And playing with this boy gets me all giddy and excited about our little girl coming! She will be here so soon! I am 30 weeks along today, and can't wait for these next 10 weeks to pass so I can meet our little girl!

29 Weeks.

Dear Baby Girl,

Happy 29th week of development! Baby Girl, you are so fun and so active! It has been so fun the last couple of weeks to not only feel you kicking and moving {more like dancing} but daddy and I have also seen you move. When you do kick hard, it feels like a twitch in my belly. A feeling that I will never get used to. Knowing that you are healthy and moving is the best feeling in the world. I smile every time I see you move. Currently, your favorite food is steak fajitas. My favorite is from a cute Mexican restaurant here in Pocatello. { FYI, for those of you who also crave steak fajitas 24/7, Taco Bell has a grilled steak soft taco and it taste very similar to a steak fajita, just cheaper!} A few weeks ago We had a Doctors appointment and he said everything looked great! Mommy does NOT have gestational diabetes and my iron levels are good! You are measuring about a week ahead of schedule (Good Job!). We are hoping to see you a little sooner than your actual due date. That would make us very happy! Daddy and I get more excited to meet you everyday! Keep getting bigger and stronger! We wish you could just come now, but we want you to be healthy when you come, so keep growing! However, If you decide to not bruise all of mommy's insides, that would be okay with me. We love you Baby Girl!

Love,
Mommy & Daddy!

A Letter to our girl!

Dear Baby Girl,

During the second Saturday session of General Conference, Mommy started having really bad pain in her stomach. It was so painful she couldn't even move. Mommy and Daddy were getting a worried about you. We wanted to make sure you were okay. We went down to the hospital and the first thing they did was check your heartbeat. It was so comforting to hear a "woosh woosh woosh" noise. (that's what your heart sounds like). They said your heart sounded normal, but just in case they were going to do an ultrasound. (This makes it so we can see you!) While they were doing the ultra sound they said everything was just fine. You were moving around and growing just like you should be. Then they asked us if we wanted to know if you were a boy or a girl. We said YES! {Even though we had scheduled a Doctors appointment the following Monday to find out anyways} That's when he told us you were a girl. We were so excited! Mommy and Daddy couldn't believe there was a precious little girl growing inside mommy. The Doctor ended up telling us that the pain Mommy was feeling was called Ligament pain. The pain is caused by Mommy's body making room so you can grow even bigger. It is totally normal in pregnancy.

After we got home from the Hospital, We couldn't stop thinking and talking about you. When we went to our appointment on Monday at the Doctors Office, they confirmed that you were in fact a little girl. Aunt Lindsay is graduating from college this weekend, so Grandma and Grandpa Bullock and a lot of family are coming up for her graduation. We were going to wait until they got here to tell everyone, but Mommy was too excited. She told everyone within 2 hours of finding out. Everyone is so excited to meet you. Mommy can't wait until she can feel you moving inside of her. People tell her that it is the best part about pregnancy. Mommy and Daddy love you baby girl. We are grateful for you everyday!

Love,

Mommy

Just some Updates...

Life is wonderful and unexpected sometimes. A month ago, we had everything figured out. I was going to graduate and be done with school BEFORE the baby comes, Drew was going to continue to work like a maniac and finish this December, THEN we were going to move to Pocatello and start our adventure outside of Rexburg. But things have changed! We are now moving to Pocatello the first week in April! We found a cute one bedroom apartment that we are going to live in for the next 4 months while I do an internship and Drew works  his cute bum off. We decided to take a semester off of school and earn money for when the baby comes instead of getting into more debt. After praying about this, we both feel really calm and peaceful about it. Drew and I both will graduate April of 2013. Even though this means staying in Rexburg longer than planned... we both know it is what we are supposed to be doing right now. :)

School has been going great and is really busy for both Drew and I. Luckily, we are ALMOST DONE! Only one more week.. and then it is finals week! I have had a really fun semester working at a local elementary school helping run their afterschool program. We have about 60-70 kids total in the program. I have gotten to know just about all of them and it has just reaffirmed my love for children. I can't wait to have one of my own and be a mommy to one of God's precious spirits! Drew also has been busy this semester he actually developed a 3 part workshop on how to strengthen your relationship by improving communication and creating an emotional connection. He put so much work into it and it ended up being a very well put together workshop { and his professor only had positive things to say about it, which is also a plus!}.

Baby Update! I have been feeling super great lately! I am now over 16 weeks pregnant and can't go one night without dreaming about our little one. The gender changes each night, so I don't even have a guess as to what we are actually having. The exciting thing is hopefully we will get to find out very soon! Doctors up here in Rexburg like to wait until you are about 20 weeks. {Even though they could probably tell us now, if they looked}. Drew and I are extremely excited to find out! Each time we go to the store, I walk straight to the baby section and look at car seats and clothes. Drew says because we don't know if we are having a boy or a girl yet, we should wait to buy clothes. But he did tell me that the week we find out, we can go buy and outfit or two! WOOHOO! This will definitely be my weakness this summer. {adorable baby clothes!}. Thats about all that is happening in our lives right now. Enjoy this Baby Bump update (definitely getting bigger!)

announcement.

As most of you probably know... Drew and I are Expecting! We couldn't be happier! I took a Pregnancy test on December 31st 2011 and we got the good GREAT news! {Happy New Year!}

After that, we pretty much kept it our little secret until the end of January when my Mom's birthday came along. We were asking her about how her birthday went and what she got for it. Then I told her that Drew and I got her a present too... but it wouldn't be here until September! To say she was excited would be an understatement. Both families couldn't be more excited for us. We are so blessed to have families who show us so much love and support.

A few days after spilling the beans to both sides of the family we had our first ultrasound! I honestly couldn't believe I actually had a little human {looked more like a gummy bear} growing inside of me. It all seemed so surreal! It still does a little bit...
Our cute gummy bear

The Doctor said our little gummy bear is absolutely perfect! It was such a cool day to go and see our baby moving around. I'm a momma! :)

About 4 weeks later we went to another appointment and we were able to hear our sweet baby's heartbeat! I don't even know how to describe how incredible it was to know our little one has a heartbeat! He/She is alive and cookin!

I have had a fairly easy pregnancy so far. I have only actually gotten sick a few times and I only feel nauseous if I  don't have enough food in my belly. {this baby likes food!} The only difficult thing so far is NO food looks good. So i don't want to eat, which makes me feel sick and it is a never ending cycle. As long as I force myself to eat, I do ok. Don't get me wrong, Everything about this pregnancy is totally worth it! (Even if it means becoming a huge blueberry when I am not even 14 weeks along!)...
13.5 Weeks

13.5 Weeks!
13.5 Weeks!

And that pretty much brings us up to date! As i get further along, I will be sure to post more pictures and tell more stories. Drew and I are so grateful for this time in our lives. We look forward to when our sweet baby (girl OR boy) comes and we can cuddle them in our arms. We can't wait to be parents!
