Just some Updates...

Hello!

First of all, It finally hit me! I am really getting married! I'm not sure when this hit me, but it hasn't felt "real" until now. It's quite the feeling. It's kind of a mixture between anxiousness, excitement and intimidation. I am going to be living with drew, in our own apartment (hopefully, we're still looking for one), paying our own bills and learning how to live life together. It will be such a new adventure. I'm not sure what it is going to be like, but I am just excited for it to begin! The wedding plans are going just swell. I didn't realize how many little things planning a wedding entails.. It includes things like food for two receptions, flowers, clothing for myself and Drew, clothing for our parents and siblings, decorations for two receptions, wedding dress alterations, wedding registry, honeymoon plans, scheduling the temple, guest lists, bridal shower, engagement pictures, bridals, wedding invitations, etc. (I think you get the picture.) My mom has been an incredible help! However, at times it can still be a bit overwhelming. We are knocking things out one thing at a time though. Life is SO good. One thing i am completely at peace with is my decision to marry Drew. I don't know how I got someone so great, but I KNOW I am going to have a happy, blessed life with Drew Wright.

Secondly, Trying to find a house is a nightmare! We thought we found the perfect place, it was a two bedroom, spacious, with washer/dryer hookups and it was a great deal. The only thing holding us back from putting a deposit down was they will only hold it for us for 30 days. Since we can't start moving in until after the semester ends, I was waiting until June 22nd or so to put a deposit down. Everyday I checked to make sure it was still available and things were definitely looking up! The 22nd was only a week away, then it was ours! Next thing I know, Drew calls me to inform me that they had sold it. Our dream apartment was gone! They told him they might have another one opening up at the end of June or beginning of July but they weren't sure. (We've heard that one a few times). So here we are... back to square one. I am about ready to give up on housing. The weather is probably nice enough we can just fix up a cardboard box and put it in the middle of Porter Park. That would work at least until winter. I imagine our house in Porter Park looking something like this:
We could have and address, a mailbox and everything! But really, if you have any tips on apartment hunting, please let me know! I am open to just about anything right now!

Finally, Drew and I got all our engagement pictures back! I was so incredibly happy to receive the CD in the mail! I spent the whole morning looking at the pictures over and over again. It's fun to see our our photographer captured our love. We really are so in love with one another and it shows in our pictures. Now the hard part is choosing just a few to use for our invitations. Just another thing to add to the To-Do list. These are a few of my new favorites:

As you can see, Life is wonderful! I am still up here at school. Working hard, well.. I am trying to work hard. For some reason I keep getting distracted and all I can think about it getting married. Drew is down in Inkom working really LONG days. I can't tell you how grateful I am that I am marrying such a hard worker. He will really do anything it takes to provide for me. What a blessing! I hope life is going well for all of you!  "Go forward in life with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face, but with great purpose in heart." — President Gordon B. Hinckley

A Roofers Life for Me

Yo Ho Yo Ho a Roofers life for me??? What? That's right, Ashley and I are roofers now. This weekend we learned the art of shingles and have decided that part of Living and Loving the Wright Way is roofing.

Growing up I have always gone to work with my dad building homes and working construction. My dad would kill me if he knew I put this picture up here. He claims that if a picture of him gets on the internet that it might get to Hollywood and he might have to go be in movies, and we can't have that can we :)

My job this summer is working construction, so this was just another weekend of work for me. Not for Ashley. She was nervous at first to get on the roof, but she quickly got over her fear of heights and falling and went right to work. Friday night we went and worked for a little more than an hour. My dad was teaching us the pattern, and Ashley was handing him shingles. She was a "machine!" as my dad said, telling her how good she was at handing him shingles. This may seem like a silly task, but it is one of the most important jobs. This person is the pace setter and boss of where the next shingle goes. They also have to position the shingle just right so the person nailing doesn't have to stop. She was EPIC at it.

It wasn't long until Ashley wanted her turn running the nail gun on Saturday. She quickly traded me spots and started nailing. What an experience. This was so much fun for her and you could see it in her face! So happy! It wasn't too long until we realized that Ashley was just amazing at everything! She placed and nailed the shingles just right. It ended up being so much fun!

So here we are, Living and Loving the Wright Way as Roofers!

Ashley and I for a quick picture break.

I lined up the shingle, and she nailed.
This was one of the sections that we did.
