Cannon Beach, OR

For the Fourth of July, We packed up our car and headed to Washington! I went to Washington with Abbigail back in January, but Drew hadn't been since Thanksgiving and we decided that was too long! We left after work on Wednesday and stayed through Sunday. It was the best. We are all so spoiled when we go to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Abbi was the center of attention (like always), I'm pretty sure she is going to have some attention withdrawals now that we are back home.

We enjoyed 4 days of relaxing, eating out, shopping and spending time with family. It was great! On Thursday though, Abbigail was acting a little off and everytime she had to pee (TMI?) she would scream! Something wasn't right. Thank goodness for modern medicine and doctors. We took her to one of the urgent care places, they took a urine sample and told us she had some kind of UTI. How do babies even get those? Anyways, the prescribed an antibiotic and aside from the fever that came along with the infection, she was feeling back to her normal self by Friday morning. Hallelujah!

Abbigail's schedule was kinda messed up from the one hour time change. She was up at 5:30am every morning, which made for one tired Mama. But that also made for a tired baby and so for the Fourth of July we put her to bed at 8:00 and called it a night! Please tell me we aren't the only lame ones? But right outside my parent's window, people were setting off some pretty great fireworks, so we did enjoy quite the fireworks show without even leaving the house. It was perfect.

*** Also, I blame this on the pregnancy, but Saturday night rolled around and I realized I hadn't taken a single picture! I was so upset. But trust me when I tell you we had a great time and can't wait to go back!

Sunday Morning came and we decided we didn't want to be done vacationing. Driving back home and going back to work just seemed so blah. Can I get an Amen? It took a while to convince Drew (a whole 30 seconds), but then we decided to drive over to Portland to visit his sister Janelle and her husband Jacob. They are kind of the best!

We got to their house and went swimming, played card games and Abbi really enjoyed coloring on their back door with window markers. I guess maybe I should invest in some of those. We convinced Janelle that work was for Lame-O's and she took work off for the next day. Jacob was a little more stubborn. Something about work is important and he couldn't miss. Darn you Jacob for being responsible!

We woke up Monday morning and made plans to head to the Oregon Coast for a little day trip. Drew realized one of his contacts had torn and he didn't have any back up glasses. Luckily Janelle's eye doctor saved the day and gave Drew a couple pairs of new contacts. They were awesome! After Drew put his new contacts in, we headed to the beach...

Our day at the beach could not have been more perfect! We ate lunch at a little diner that sat right on the ocean! It was gorgeous! It was 65 degrees outside and overcast! It actually felt great, but we didn't pack a single jacket as we werent planning on heading over this way. So darn it, we had to go buy some! :)

Drew said he would just "Man up" whatever that means, but Abbi and I both got some new jackets that said Cannon Beach on them! We had so much fun going into all the little shops. They had a chocolate cafe and a candy store! It's safe to say that Abbigail ate more candy that day than she had her whole life, but she wasn't complaining. I guess that's what happens when fun Aunt Janelle is in charge!

Last year, when we were at the coast, Abbigail really liked playing in the sand, but hated the water. This year was totally different. She still loved playing in the sand, but she also loved playing in the water, chasing seagulls, and finding treasure (shells) in the sand. She is a little beach babe, that's for sure! We stayed for a few hours, but Abbi would have been happy there all night too! After splashing/sitting/practically lying in the ocean, Abbi was pretty wet. (Note to Self: Next time we go to the coast, bring an extra pair of clothes for the baby and toddler!) We stripped her down, tried to get as much sand out of her diaper as we could and wrapped her in a dry blanket. I think we wore her out. And with that, we headed back to Jacob and Janelle's to pack up all of our things and get ready for our long drive back home!

We had the best time! Thanks to Jacob and Janelle for letting us invade their place on such short notice. We sure love you guys!

rain.

I love rain. There is just something about opening the blinds and seeing newly fallen raindrops on my window. There is just something about opening my front door and smelling fresh rain. I just love hearing the rolling thunder and seeing the flashes of lightening. It is all so natural and beautiful. Yesterday as the rain fell, I decided it was time to introduce Abbi to the rain. I opened the front door and for a while we just sat and watched. Abbi smiled, swung her feet, and said "oooooooh" and "wow".  Then she got up and started exploring. She would stomp in the puddles, hold her hands out to "catch" the rain, eat some mud, and smile the whole time. One of my favorite things is watching Abbigail discover new things, and this rain was a beautiful new discovery.

A day at the park

We needed a break. After all, staying at home all day pretending to clean house is pretty exhausting. So Abbi and I put on our shoes, and headed to the park. No one was there! I was pretty surprised because with the exception of a little breeze, the weather was perfect! Since nobody was there but us, Abbi was free to roam and play without the crazy big kids getting in the way. The park is a lot more fun when Abbi can walk around and actually enjoy playing on the slide, swing, etc.  We are so lucky to have a nice little park just down the street from us. You can bet this won't be our last park outing. We love summertime!

Smiles, Snot and a lot of Sass.

All this teething is making Abbi's nose run like a river, but she is still as happy and sassy as ever! And for those moments where she isn't happy (understandable right? 4 teeth!), Tylenol has become our best friend! I love that she still giggles and laughs, crawls and climbs, eats food and toys and throws food and toys. This mama is grateful that Abbi handles teething so well! It makes my life a lot easier too!

Lately...

Lately, life has been pretty awesome! To start off, we bought a car! {woot woot!} It is a beautiful 2007 Honda Civic. Seriously, It's like we were made for each other. I was driving down the road one day, glanced over at the used car lot as I was driving by (as I do almost everyday) and saw crappy car, crappy car, junky car, beautiful, nice, Honda Civic, crappy car, crappy car, you get the idea. It stuck out like a sore thumb. The next morning I called to get the details, It was in our price range and the year we wanted and we were the first people to call on it. He had just put it out on the lot a few days prior. What? I was so excited, after test driving it, taking it to a mechanic, etc, we bought it! Oh happy, happy day!

Last weekend, Ryker came to town again. This time his parents were here too! We love when Heather and Justin get to come visit. Also, Abbi and Ryker are best friends! It's adorable! They follow each other around, kiss each other, laugh with one another, and it is awesome! When Abbi takes a toy Ryker is playing with or even thinking about playing with, he kinda gets upset, but Abbi doesn't care. She is just happy to be with him! That's why their friendship is working out so great! While he was here, we busted out the little swimming pool at Nana's house and they loved it! Abbigail loves water. But when it comes to swimming, she takes a little longer to warm up. (like 20 minutes or so). But after she has decided she is ready, we can't pull her away! She loves it! I need to take her to the little water park here in Pocatello. I bet she would be in Heaven!

Drew and I were able to leave Abbi and Nana and Grandpa's house and sneak away to the temple. Temple dates are my favorite! I come home with joy and peace in my heart and a renewed love for Drew and Abbigail AND I feel my relationship with my Heavenly Father grows as I go to the temple. It's awesome!

A couple days ago, Abbi's small cold started getting a lot worse and she got a fever. I know, I know, you're thinking, "She is sick again?" I thought she was, so I took her to the doctor and he told us there is no ear infection, but FOUR news teeth coming through. Poor Abbi huh? So the last couple days at our house have been quite miserable if I'm being honest with you. I feel like these kind of days have been the hardest part of being a mom so far. My baby is sick/teething, not feeling good, crying and I really can't do anything for her except Tylenol and cuddling. It makes for a very frustrated and exhausted Mama.

Last but definitely not least, in fact it's probably to coolest thing to happen in the past week, Abbi has become a walking machine! It's awesome! She has been working on walking for the past couple of weeks, but just this week she has almost mastered it. She still falls, and she cant stand back up on her own yet, but she can just about make it across a whole room. And the best thing is she isn't afraid to try anymore. She gets excited to walk! She squeals and flaps her arms as she is trying to balance while walking across the room. Then, when she falls, she claps for her self. She is so funny. Anyway, to prove it, here is a video!

And that's about it. Thanks for reading!

P.S. I know I've been changing my blog design just about as often as I change Abbi's diapers (and as you know, that is FREQUENT!) But I like this design, so I think it should be here awhile...

Baby Bump: 32 weeks + 3 days.

As much as I complain about how my due date isn't soon enough, I really can't believe how fast these last few weeks have gone. I am now due in LESS than 2 months and if she comes a week early she could be born NEXT month. That is crazy for me to think about. We are slowly and surely getting everything ready for baby girl's arrival. It is a little bit difficult considering we aren't moving back up to Rexburg until the end of next month, but we are doing our best. My mom bought our crib for us and it should be here this week! I can't wait to set it up and see how it looks with our bedding. Baby girl's closet is packed already and I haven't even put all of her clothes in there yet. Also, I am pretty sure she has cuter shoes than I do.
Case and Point.
We do have a name picked out for her. However, that name is going to be kept off the internet until she makes her grand entrance into this fine world. {P.S. it is so hard keeping it a secret!} Drew and I are so excited for our sweet baby girl to join our family!

The fourth of July.

I don't know about you guys. But every time the fourth of July comes around I think about the movie Little Rascals. "He makes me melt like a Popsicle on the fourth of July" I smile every time I think about it and now I smile even bigger because I do have someone who makes me melt!

This year, our fourth consisted of breakfast at grandma and grandpa's and then of course the one and only Inkom fourth of July parade. I was fun to spend time with family and enjoy the parade together.

After the parade we packed our bags and headed down to Utah. That night we had dinner with my parents. My mom's sister invited us over to watch fireworks at their house. They were lighting off a bunch of fireworks in their cul-de-sac. It was fun but SOO loud! I wonder what baby girl was thinking...

Driving back to where we were sleeping that night, you could really see the Alpine fire well. It was dark outside so there wasn't a lot of smoke blocking the flames. It looked insane so we snapped some pictures. Then we made it back to our bed and went right to bed for a much needed sleep.

It's a Love Story - Cameron and McKenna!

I have a lot of blogging catch up to do. Drew and I have been down in Utah for a long weekend. It was a pretty eventful weekend with fireworks, baby shower, shopping and Cameron and McKenna getting married. But for now, we will stick with the most important event. {The Wedding!}

July 7, 2012

It honestly couldn't have been a more perfect day. Their sealing was perfect, the weather was gorgeous and Cameron and McKenna are such a great couple to be around. So to see them so perfectly happy on their special day, was awesome!

The Luncheon they had was delicious. A LOT of people showed up to support Cameron and McKenna. The dads gave tender little speeches that made it clear how much they love their children and even Grandma Norman (McKenna's Grandma) spoke and told the story of how Cameron and McKenna met and fell in love. It was SO sweet!

And then the reception - The decorations were INCREDIBLE!

I loved, loved, loved the vintage style McKenna chose. It was perfect! And of course Cameron and McKenna looked great together as usual.

Congratulations Cameron and McKenna on your special day! Drew and I only wish you the best! You two are perfect together! We love you!
